The New Birth (Born Again Experience)
Blessings to you today!
I want to take some time again to talk about what it really means to be born again. If you’re a new believer (a baby) or just getting serious about your walk with the Lord, this is for you. So, what does the Bible actually say about being born again?
What Does It Mean to Be Born Again?
Simply put, being born again means that your spirit, your inner man has been made alive through Jesus Christ. You’ve now entered into a brand-new relationship with God.
Before Christ came into your life, the Bible says you were dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1–3; Colossians 2:12–15). You were spiritually dead, separated from God, and under the control of the enemy. Your soul which includes your mind, emotions, will, and intellect was being influenced by darkness.
Even if you wanted to serve God, you couldn’t, because the enemy (Satan) had you bound. All humanity was on a collision course with hell.
But then Jesus stepped in.
What Happens When Jesus Comes into Your Heart?
When you repent, believe the Gospel, and are baptized in Jesus’ name, you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). That’s when real transformation begins:
- Your spirit is baptized (immersed) into Christ.
- The enemy, who once piloted your life, is kicked out.
- Jesus becomes the new pilot of your life.
- You are now hidden in Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).
- Your spiritual eyes are opened (Ephesians 2:8–9).
- You become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
You ultimately start your journey of deliverance, healing, and growth, now part of the family of God. From here on as you go through your deliverance you begin to acquire the character of the Lord, as your mind becomes renewed (Romans 12:2), you’re now going through the process of sanctification as we purge ourselves from the dead works/evil deeds of the flesh (Galatians 5:19–21; 2 Tim. 2: 21,22 ) and your body now has to carry out whatever your mind instructs you to do.
Why We Need Deliverance After Salvation
Even though your spirit is saved, your soul, your thoughts, habits, emotions still need cleansing. That’s why you may still struggle with:
- Anger, addictions, depression
- Lust, pride, rejection, fear
- Generational curses and occult involvement
- Unforgiveness, bitterness, and more…
That is why we should not condemn ourselves for having fallen short. That was our adamic nature. We could not help ourselves.
A quick note on the adamic nature, this nature we will always have with us. That is why we have to beat this nature into submission on a daily basis and bring it into obedience to God’s word (Luke 9: 23, 1Corinthians 9:27).
“All have sinned, all have fallen short of God’s requirements for a saved life” (Romans 3: 12 , 17, 21, 23).
Simply stated God’s word is saying none met his requirements. Once we lay aside all excuses and confess that we fall short and acknowledge that we carried out all kinds of evil and recognize we do not even deserve his mercy, then we can properly understand why Jesus came for us. His redemptive life, death, burial and resurrection was specific to enable us to be restored to God’s original plans for our life. Plans that would see us in his protective and divine caring presence of an ever-loving Father.
This is where deliverance comes in and what the Lord is expecting us to do. Which is what this website is all about, to get us all cleaned up sanctified and walking in holiness, so that the love and power of God can flow through us that will see others saved, healed and delivered too.
Once our soul is renewed and sanctified through the Word of God (Romans 12:2; 2 Timothy 2:21–22) your body will then follow the instructions of your renewed mind.
It is as simple as that. If you are not cleaned up, you will not be able to live a sanctified life for Christ and ultimately you will fall through the cracks and will not meet Christ in peace.
If your spirit is not growing, the light that’s supposed to shine from your spirit unto your soul excusing or accusing the actions of your soul for doing good or evil will be dim. When that happens, your soul can override the promptings of the spirit. That’s why it’s important to feed your spirit with the pure Word of God (1 Peter 2:1–2).
Your New Identity in Christ
When Jesus came into your life:
- You were made alive quickened by His Spirit.
- Your eyes were opened spiritually.
- You were adopted into the family of God.
- You were justified, declared righteous (Romans 5:1).
- You were washed and cleansed (Titus 3:5).
- You were redeemed (Ephesians 1:7).
- You received the hope of eternal life (John 5:24).
That’s why we can confidently say, “I am saved!”
Next Steps in Your New Life with Christ
Now that you’re saved, what should you do? Stay focused and …
1. Read the Bible Daily
Try to make it a routine and find a time that works, apart from everything else. Ideally, your quiet time should be before the break of day when there is no distractions at all. Before the start of your day’s activities.
Start with the New Testament and with the Gospel of John. Read slowly. Meditate. Ask the Lord what He’s showing you. Take notes. If you come across something you don’t understand, write it down and bring your questions to a Bible teacher or mentor.
I pray the Lord will give you further revelation not only now, but as you proceed to learn of him by being faithful to sit under the pure Word with sincere and knowledgeable teachers, counselors, or deliverance ministers to help you grow and learn how to wage warfare to secure your freedom so you can help others.
Tips: If you can read for 30 minutes per day at 300 words per minute, you should be able to complete the Bible in 3 months. Or alternatively if you read four chapters per day, you would complete the Bible in 1 year. This is very manageable. Necessary discipline that we all should undertake to do regularly in addition to our private studies and research.
At this early stage of your spiritual growth, you should be fully resigned to going through the process of Deliverance where the major hindrances to your spiritual growth will be dealt with that is, for example, generational curses need to be broken, witchcraft practices, and occult involvement, all other major emotional disorders be dealt with at this point.
Many Deliverance workers in the field would recommend that one should go through their Deliverance process first where they get rid of their major devils before they go down in the waters of baptism. However, we also learn that the Lord can also meet us and fill us with his spirit even before we go through such a deliverance process.

2. Developing a Prayer Mindset
Talk to God like you would a close friend. Be honest. Bring your sins, struggles, and fears before Him. He already knows everything. He just wants you to invite Him in to help you be free of these struggles, sinful habits, practices, whatever.
The only big difference is that when you share your concerns with the Lord, he can set you free from your bondages and concerns and set you on the right path. No problem is too big for him. He will never leave you or forsake you.
If you don’t have a church, pray for this and he will begin to lead you to a solid Bible believing and practicing church; apostolic, that preaches the full gospel of healing, deliverance and salvation.
3. Join a Bible-Believing, Spirit-Filled Church
Look for a church that:
- Preaches the full Gospel (salvation, healing, and deliverance), one that is Apostolic
- Teaches holiness
- Practices baptism in Jesus’ name
- Believes in the gifts of the Spirit, including speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4)
Try to do fun things with them. Seek to build a bonding relationship with those that are sharing the Word with you.
The Lord said in his Word that we are to love one another as he loved us and lay down his life for us. Likewise, we are to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters and friends for that is God’s will for our lives. if we love not our brothers, then we are still walking in darkness (see 1 John 2:7; 1 John 4:20-21 (a command); 1 Peter 1:22).
Avoid churches (Baptist, Roman Catholic, Seventh-day Adventists, Lutheran, Moravian, Science of the Mind, Jehovah’s witness, etc.) that deny the power of God, twist Scripture, or support sin. Indeed, all of the churches that do not preach the full Gospel of healing, salvation and deliverance as demonstrated by the apostles in the Holy Bible.
4. Fellowship With Other Believers & Share Your Testimony
Surround yourself with other believers and those who are serious about their walk. Try to seek out others of the same faith (Apostolic). Find people who love the Word, love the Lord, and are growing in faith. Make sure that their beliefs are on the same line as yours and seek to encourage each other in your new walk as you examine the scriptures together whenever possible.
You need fellowship to stay strong in your walk and be sure to tell others what Jesus has done in your life. Just share your story, how you came to Christ and what He’s doing for you now.
5. Learn to Walk in the Spirit
The Holy Spirit is now living inside of you. He will guide, teach, and strengthen you. Over time, you’ll learn to recognize His voice and leading.
You’ll no longer be driven by your flesh, but by His Spirit (Galatians 5:16, 24–25). Romans 6:7 He that is dead is freed from sin.
That’s why the Bible also says that daily we should mortify this flesh (Romans 8:6-10), take up our cross daily and follow Christ (Luke 9:23). That is a condition of discipleship. If we can’t do this then we cannot be his followers.
Closing Encouragement
Stay hungry for God. Stay in His Word. Stay in prayer. Stay connected to other believers.
Know this: Jesus didn’t just come to save you from hell, He came to bring you into a relationship with the Father and give you purpose, power, and peace in this life.
You are a new creation. You are loved. You are chosen. You belong to Jesus.
Go now and grow. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. And go do mighty exploits in His name. Amen!

WHAT IS DELIVERANCE AND HOW DO WE FIX THIS MESS?
- There is a close connection between sin and demons.
- In fact sin is the open door that gives demons legal right to enter your life and to torment your life in so many ways, emotionally, physically, relationally and otherwise.
- If mankind had never sinned, Adam and Eve, none would be vulnerable to demons.
